To ensure your experience with Storage Works is a pleasant one, we have put together some frequently asked questions that may help you when storing at Storage Works. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact one of our managers so they may help you.
Do you sell packing materials?
All of our self storage locations have a complete inventory of packing and moving supplies including discount boxes.
Do you supply security locks?
We require the use of a disk style pad lock. We sell them on-site or you may bring your own lock. Our Abingdon location uses cylinder type locks which are available for sale on-site.
Does your locations provide outside storage for RV/ Boat/ Car/ Motorcycle?
Our self storage locations offer outside storage where you can store boats, RVs, trucks, trailers, motorcycles and cars. The vehicle must be drivable and we need a copy of the registration or title on file.
Do you provide a moving truck?
Yes! All of our facilities offer free use of a moving truck for all new tenants. Please see the manager for further details.
Do you offer any discounts or run specials?
Our pricing is very competitive and specials are not always necessary to offer you the best deal available. Based on availability, we do offer rent specials. Please call the manager for details. We do offer a 5% discount for students, active military persons, and seniors.
What items cannot be stored?
You cannot store any hazardous, toxic, or illegal items. Also, no food or perishable items can be stored in our spaces. If in doubt of what can be stored in our spaces, please ask the property manager. Examples of items that cannot be stored are: Ammunitions, gasoline, paint, paint thinner, propane, food, produce, plants, fireworks, etc.
What is temperature control?
Temperature control is a feature that we offer at several of our facilities. Our temperature controlled units maintain a temperature of 50 to 80 degrees. This feature helps protect your stored belongings from the extreme temperatures.
What type of deposit/fees do you charge?
We do not charge a deposit fee, but we do charge a small administration fee.
Do I have to rent for a certain number of months?
No, your lease is on a month-to-month basis, with a minimum of one month. Rent is due on the 1st of the month.
What are the payment terms?
We strive to make your storage experience as hassle free as possible, including paying your bill. Typically, our leases are month-to-month but we also offer the flexibility of long-term leases. We also offer Auto Pay. We can automatically charge your MasterCard®, Visa®, Discover®, or American Express® each month.
What type of security do you provide?
We take great pride in protecting your belongings and strive to provide state of-the-art security. We feature electronic gates with coded access, keypad accessed buildings, monitored video surveillance, fenced property, and well-lit facilities.
Can anyone drive onto the property?
All of our facilities have an electronic gate system which can only be opened by a unique security code that is assigned to each individual tenant. The code allows us to monitor who is entering and exiting the facility at all times.
When can I access my unit?
All of our locations feature 24 hour access, 7 days a week.
How much notice must be given when I move out?
You must vacate before the first day of any month, or you will have to pay for that month. If you know in advance when you want to vacate, please notify the facility manager at least ten days prior to vacating. We do not prorate the month you move out.
What about insurance?
While your items are in storage they are not covered by the storage location for loss or damage. The items you place in Storage Works spaces are the sole responsibility of you and insurance for your stored belongings is required. You may be covered under an insurance policy you already have. Check with your insurance agent. Otherwise, customer content insurance is available through Storsmart Insurance at our storage facilities.
